It was my understanding that a refresh of a VDB would basically reset the VDB to its initial provisioning state (except it will include data changes from its source). What I thought would happen is the VDB would be reset to its original size. E.g. Assuming source doesn’t change; Initial VDB was 300mb, grew to 2gb. After a refresh should it go back to 300mb?

I'm not seeing this behavior. The size of the VDB after updates remains larger then its original size after a refresh.

    Can you explain this behavior.

    thanks,
    Vito

Vito, even though you refreshed the VDB, a separate time flow is created (though this does not show in the GUI but does reflect in Capacity); so your VDB will be 2GB until retention kicks in and deletes all the snapshots from the VDB before the refresh.

The good part is, you can use the CLI to rollback and switch timeflows (like an undo of refresh operation). Keep in mind these time flows are subject to your retention policy.

Thanks for the updates. This clarifies the behavior I'm seeing.
