Hostchecker is provided to ensure that a given environment, user, etc, has all permissions and configuration required for successful operation in Delphix.  If you are comfortable with the prerequisites as documented on our site, then you certainly have the choice to not use this tool.  However, the Delphix Engine will validate these requirements upon initial discovery and linking of dSources, so any areas that do not comply with the documented requirements will throw a fault, the severity of which will be dependent on the area of concern.

Running Hostchecker proactively allows you to address these issues and prevent these faults.  An escalating number of faults in a complex environment can cause other relevant faults you DO care about to be lost in the shuffle.

I hope this answers your question!
