the above is a direct quote from the 2016 Delphix User Guide page 741.

I am not clear as to what this sentence is attempting to convey. May someone please expand on the sentence: "XML is automatically imported"

XML is imported from where and to what? etc...

Thanks for your question. I think this is the text you are referring to:

Masking of sensitive data—Delphix is 10x faster in securing your data because of it's easy to use web browser interface and the fact that there is no programming required! With Delphix, you create XML that is automatically imported.

Delphix Masking provides a graphical user interface for describing the masking operations. Internally, Delphix Masking automatically generates an XML file describing the masking job that is constructed through the GUI. Each time the masking job is run, the masking operations described by the XML file are executed. The user does not need to interact with the XML file in anyway or is even aware of it.

Are you stating that the DELPHIX ENGINE executes jobs from the XML that is generated from the information pulled from the GUI?

If the above is correct, than I would expect there is also an output file advising job results.

Correct, although the use of XML is an internal implementation detail and not user visible.

There is no XML output file. Results are provided through the GUI.

User access to XML file is not available because this is an internal data structure and subject to change.

Deep appreciation for the follow up.

My organization attempted  the first masking job last year. There were four attempts to mask the environment over the course of six months and all resulted in failure.

A few days ago, I reviewed the log file for the environment to determine what error resulted in the job failure. Finding this error was like looking for a needle in a haystack. I reviewed the enviornment's log going back to a year.

There must be an easier more time effective way to view job errors. Please advise.

I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you encountered masking your environment. Job status is reported in the graphical interface on the monitor tab. Detailed information is contained in the log. If you'd like help masking your environment, Delphix customer support or technical services would be able to help with your issue.

This issue needs to be submitted as an enhancement. I understand the system is working as designed. However, this current method is not time effective.

Reviewing the XML that is generated from the information populated from the  GUI and reviewing job output via the XML needs to be added as an enhancement to this system.

Reviewing a log file when XMLs are available needs to be appropriated to Delphix clients.

Please submit this issue as an enhancement.
