Jon, can you post a screen shot of the error message and the Installation Home that you are trying to use from the environments page?

This usually happens for one of two reasons:
  1. The installation home you are trying to provision the VDB to is disabled (allow provisioning = Off). See screen shot below
  2. The target you are trying to provision doesn't have any compatible Installation Homes available. i.e. You are attempting to provision an 11gR2 VDB to a server that only has 11gR1 installed.

On my side what happens is that on stage server I have installed Oracle but DBs that need to import are either on, and
Is that any way to workaround that or I will need to install all three on the target?

Hi Thiago,

you should install all Oracle Homes on the target environment. However, if you want to avoid to install from scratch those homes and wasting the storage of the target server, you could virtualize the Oracle Homes with Delphix and provision virtual Oracle Homes on a fresh installed Operating System. This can be done using "Unstructured Files" virtualization and hook script to relink Oracle Binaries.
