    According to delphix when a dsource is added from a production database..Dsource will be 30% original size of the production database..but when add an dsource it is around 35-40% of original size..?

    database used:mysql
    database size: 5.9GB
    DSOURCE size after adding: 3.1GB
    Delphix Version:4.3.3.0
    #Masking
    #DemoEnvironment

    Prakash, 30% is an average. Some of our customers are far less than 30%. It really all depends what is in your dSource.  You have a 52% foot print on your dSource. But, despite the great storage savings on the dSource, it is not one of the main benefits of Delphix. What is the size of your virtual databases of this dSource and how long does the VDB creation take?

    size of VDB's is same as Dsource...but creation of VDB's is much faster than dsource

    VDB's size is 732kb...wow it's great...VDB's can be created within a minute...

    Your first answer disturbed me. A 3.1 GB VDB?!? I knew that was incorrect. Your latter answers are what I expected. Yep. Those VDB's should only take about a minute to create and should only be a few bytes in size. If you have seen my most recent blog (http://adam.today), you watched me provision a virtual copy of a 1.14 TB database in under 3 minutes and it only consumed 41MB. Here is a screenshot of the sizes of the VDB and dSource:

    Yeah, it is great! Now you see why I said it didn't matter that the dSource was 30 or 50%. :)
