Is it possible to move a VDB from one database group to another? We currently have 2 groups and have provisioned a VDB on one group and would like to move it to the other so that we have 1 group that is dSources and 1 that is VDBs.

Currently this is not available to do, however if you are interested in this functionality please look at our Customer Insight Group- there maybe opportunities for this type of functionality in the future.

Sanjay, the answer really is "Yes," but not directly. :) If you just put it in the wrong folder by mistake, then it is probably quicker for you to delete it and provision it in the correct folder. But....not always. For instance, say you placed it in your Dev folder, and now you want to move it (promote it) into the QA folder. Stop the Dev VDB. Then provision a VDB into QA using that Dev VDB as the source. And stand it up.Voila, you have moved it! That's the power of Delphix.

I know what you are going to say.... that's not a move button! Well, maybe not. But, sometimes we have to look at problems a little differently. After all, how do we have to rename files in a Unix system....? 

Ah, very clever Adam!  This is great and will work for us.  I figured there was a way to get the result I wanted.  Though a move button would be awesome.  :)  Thanks!

Hi, is this possible to do for dSources?  all our dSources are in separate groups at the moment, but we would like to move them all into one group

Sorry Mark. But, I believe there currently is not a way to move dSources.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Can the group of a vDB be changed without reprovisioning?. We have provisioned a vDB in the wrong group. The vDB is in constant use and we cannot re-provision. Can we change the group using the API or CLI?
