Hi all,

I will have a HP-UX as a source host and Linux as a target. Will I be able to provision virtual files from Unix to Linux?

I hope that it can be done since I will deal with virtual files and not with DBs.

Thank you.

Hello Gianpiero,

What database do you wish to do this with? Delphix calls this feature cross-platform provisioning (also known as XPP). It is only supported for the Oracle database and is a special feature that must be purchased https://docs.delphix.com/display/DOCS50/Cross-Platform+Provisioning+of+Oracle+dSources%3A+Overview.

I would recommend contacting your sales team for more information.

Thanks,
  Neal

Hi Neal,

thank you for your reply. I know this add on feature.
However I am not referring to a that feature. I'm simply dealing with "virtual files" or, in other words, directories and files. I'm wondering if Delphix allows me to use different O.S. between source and target when using only virtual files (No DB).

Regards.

Hello,

The documentation states:
You can only target a Unix environment when provisioning from a Unix dSources or vFiles. You can only target a Windows environment when provisioning from a Windows dSources and vFiles.
https://docs.delphix.com/display/DOCS50/Provisioning+Unstructured+Files+as+vFiles

So I would expect provisioning vFiles from HP to Linux to work.

Thanks,
  Neal
