You register the target environment on the Delphix Engine, by installing the Delphix Connector using the steps described here:

    https://docs.delphix.com/display/DOCS50/Adding+a+SQL+Server+Standalone+Target+Environment

then, once you have your target environment defined, you can then add your source environment as well, using these steps:

    https://docs.delphix.com/display/DOCS50/Adding+a+SQL+Server+Source+Environment

    in given steps what

    7. Select a Connector Environment.
    1. Connector environments are used as proxy for running discovery on the source. If no connector environments are available for selection, you will need to set them up as described in Adding a SQL Server Standalone Target Environment. Connector environments must:

      • have the Delphix Connector installed -I have doen this.
      • be registered with the Delphix Engine from the host machine where they are located. -what is this Step????

The target environment should have been registered with the Delphix Engine when you added the Connector. Then, when you are adding a source, this is the environment you select as the "Connector Environment". You need to add a target before you can add a source.

If you have completed the steps for adding a target environment, then you should see it listed in the page from the GUI menu "Manage"->"Environments".

It seems likely that you may not have previously set up a Windows domain account according to the documentation at "https://docs.delphix.com/display/DOCS50/SQL+Server+Support+and+Requirements", specifically on the page "https://docs.delphix.com/display/DOCS50/Requirements+for+SQL+Server+Validated+Sync+Targets" for Windows validated-sync target servers and on the page "https://docs.delphix.com/display/DOCS50/Requirements+for+SQL+Server+Source+Hosts+and+Databases" for Windows source servers?

Does your Windows domain account for Delphix have all the attributes requested in the documentation?

    Anshuman,

Specifically to answer your question above, you can find information about setting up Windows domain accounts for Delphix online here.

Just FYI, all Delphix documentation is located online at "http://docs.delphix.com".  Using the contents of this site to begin at the beginning, this overview page for SQL Server describes the process of deploying on Windows for SQL Server from a higher level.

Toward the bottom of this page, the overall workflow for deploying Delphix on Windows for SQL Server is described online here, with links to other pages as appropriate...

    1. Adding a SQL Server Standalone Target Environment for the "validated sync" or "staging" target
    2. Adding a SQL Server Source Environment for the "source" server linked from the "validated sync" or "staging" target server.  This is the server where the source MSSQL database is located.
    3. Linking a SQL Server dSource to load the MSSQL source database into the Delphix Engine
    4. Adding a SQL Server Standalone Target Environment for the "VDB target" server.  If necessary, for the purposes of a POC, this can be the same server as the "validated sync" or "staging" server, but in an actual deployment, it is wise to keep the "validated sync" target server separate from the VDB target server.
    5. Provisioning a SQL Server VDB for creating a VDB on the VDB target server.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks!
