    Hi all,

I am trying out Delphix using Oracle Linux 7 with 11G of the DBMS.

When provisioning a Dsource, I receive the message “No JDBC connection strings configured for this database”.  This may be an Oracle setting but I am not sure where to fit it in.

Also when I try to do hostchecker (jar)  on the source environment I receive a message;  “Unable to identify platform”.  However the environment is picked up (i.e. the first part of the Dsource) as Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.0 (Maipo).

    Any ideas welcome.

    Regards

    John

John, we do not yet support Oracle Linux 7 for Source or Target servers.  You can see our supported OS and DBMS version list at: http://docs.delphix.com/display/DOCS41/_Supported+DBMS+Versions+and+Supported+Operating+Systems

It may be that your DB is not registered with a listener, which is a prerequisite for adding it as a dSource to a Delphix Engine  If it is actually registered, you can manually add JDBC connection strings to the source database configuration in the environment editor.

    Hi John,

Delphix does not currently support RHEL 7 yet, so you're getting an issue because the release version returned does not match a "known" platform. If you have a RHEL 6.5 system you can use try that instead. The OS versions we support can be found here:

    http://docs.delphix.com/display/DOCS41/Supported+Operating+Systems+and+DBMS+Versions+for+Oracle+Envi...

    Best Regards,

    Scott.

    Thanks guys,
Dave, I will try the manual jdbc connection in the environment and report back.  Excuse my ignorance but in terms of the listener registration, would this be via TNSNAMES?  The listener LSNRCTL is started and shows (using STATUS) the Database(orcl.localdomain in this case).

I see though that while Centos is not listed that it is the platform being used fro the pack that was being "distributed" at Oracle World.  What would be the best version to download?  BTW, Fedora 16 seems to work fine.

    Regards

    John

CentOS 6.5 works well, but it is just the open port of RHEL. There are more differences in OEL and RHEL than just that. CenOS is what I built the Landshark systems on.

I managed to use CENTOS OK (6.5)  Just some small issues with MEMORY_MAX which were surmountable.  The system is very basic and all VM based but from a functionality perspective works fine.

Dave, excuse ignorance but is Land Shark the demo "pack" and if so, how can I get a copy?

Landshark is Delphix' preconfigured demo environment with a Delphix Engine, source, and target. Right now, it is in a limited release phase, but we will be making it generally available in the near future.
