Delphix Products

I have an environment defined on one Delphix engine.  I wanted to define the exact same environment on another Delphix engine prior to removing it from the first.  Is that possible?  It looks like Both Delphix Engines know about the same source so, the first one is updated and nothing shows up on the second Delphix engine.

I do this quite often here in tech support. We need multiple versions of Delphix running so I will add a source environment and link a dSource to my 4.3.4 engine and again on my 5.0.x engine.

Each engine has a unique ID so you can even use the same toolkit directory (if you have enough disk space).

I'm not sure what you mean by "updated"? Did you change something in the environment? Was the environment refreshed after the change?

When I went into the 2nd Delphix engine and defined the environment,  It looked like it was going through the steps but, in the new Delphix engine there are no environments listed for me to see.  Also, I just noticed that the original Delphix engine has a Jet Stream container defined.  not sure if that means anything.

Are both Delphix engines the same version? Are you using the same operating system user for discovery? Were any hotfixes applied to one engine but not the other?

It sounds like discovery is failing. I think we would probably have to look at the debug logs to see why discovery failed to find the environment.

I've only tested adding the same environment to two different engines for databases (Oracle, MSSQL and ASE). Are you doing this for unstructured files or EBS?

I went back in and it was there.  The Delphix engines are different versions.  However, the source and target are exactly the same.

Sounds good! Maybe a browser refresh issue?

I also wanted to mention that in my environment, I do not have a lot of change happening on the source databases so Delphix does not have to capture a lot of change. If your source database is going under a lot of change, linking a second engine to the same dSource may have some impact on the load.
