Which is faster, performing a snapshot of a VDB after 4 months of no snapsync or deleting the dSource and recreating it?

    Hi all,

We have a dSource that we disabled last Feb 19. No snapshots/snapsyncs were performed since. Today, we got a request to provision a VDB for this instance, but they need the latest data. I was wondering which one would be faster, running a snapshot/snapsync on the existing dSource, or deleting the dSource and creating a new one from scratch? My concern is that if we just run a snapshot/snapsync on the existing dSource, it will run incremental lvl1, which due to the gap might take longer than just recreating the dSource. Thank you.

    Regards,
    Mark

    Hi Mark,

It largely depends how much of the data is likely to have changed on the source DB, as to how much difference there would be, but I would still expect a SnapSync to be faster than recreating the dSource from scratch.

    Thanks,

    Scott.
