Here is the interesting capability Delphix replication has that I have noticed only recently and wanted share with you and ask for your point of view as well.
In above screenshot from Delphix Engine, there is a DataPrep clone (for masking) and then Dev/Test databases are given from DataPrep clone for the end users. Another direct clone BugFix is created from Prod.
Prod (dSource)
--> DataPrep (vDB)
--> Dev (vDB)
-->Test (vDB)
--> BugFix (vDB)
When I go a create a replication profile, and decide to send only "DataPrep" then my expectation would be that I would receive only the "DataPrep".
But in reality, I would receive both Prod and DataPrep in the Target Delphix Engine, and both it would be possible to use and provision from both objects.
The expectation would be to receive only the object selected in the replication screen, not whole parent/child structure of replicated object.
Or an alternative might be that Prod object selected automatically, when DataPrep is selected.
Still, from a UX point of view, I would say that this might have been much better, since from SDD, we know that sending only the child object is possible.
We have checked this with Delphix Support as well, and an idea is created on behalf and I believe that this is an important thing to be added into Delphix soon.
Please share your insight and feedback as well.
