  • 1.  Transforming cluster environment to a standalone environment

    Hi everybody,

I have a customer who wants to modify their cluster environments linked on Delphix, by unifying it's nodes into one single filesystem. They want to stop using ASM also.

What do we need to consider? Do we have to bring the environment up to delphix again after the change?

The engine is on version 22.0.0.1

    Hi Bruno.

There's a few things needs to be clarified/ further info needed.

    1-For example,

    • will the hostname of the linked source/staging/target hosts change?
    • will the ORACLE_HOME/Oracle installation change for the Oracle dsources/linked CDBs/virtual databases?

       - what will the change entail?  For example, with "unifying it's nodes into one single filesystem",

does this mean all dsources and virtualised databases move to one host?  Or does it refer to multiple nodes

on a single machine?  Will the dsources/databases be migrated to a new host?

2-Ref "They want to stop using ASM also."

Are the dsources or the virtualised databases (or both)  currently on ASM ?

    Cheers,

    Hi Marisa,

There will be no new hostnames

Example: There's a cluster with 2 nodes (let's call them node1 and node2), all the VDBs in node2 will migrate to node1 and the cluster needs to turn in a standalone.

The source/staging environments won't change, only the target cluster environments. So there will be migration of virtual databases only.

We are aware that we cannot migrate a VDB from cluster to standalone, so the only option is recreating them, right?
