Adding a SAP Source Environment with Windows Server R2 2003

  • 1.  Adding a SAP Source Environment with Windows Server R2 2003

I'm trying to add a SAP environment as source for a demo group and I'm getting the following error:
Could not log into "X.X.X.180" for environment "X.X.X.143" with the provided username and password: "ACCESS_DENIED: 1326: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password."

The target environment was setup correctly and is working fine. We have tried to run the addhostgui.cmd script and when it had finished it showed that the environment was correctly added to the engine. The only thing that we get after running that command is the next message:
log4j:WARN No appenders could be found for logger (org.apache.http.impl.conn.PoolingHttpClientConnectionManager).
log4j:WARN Please initialize the log4j system properly.
log4j:WARN See http://logging.apache.org/log4j/1.2/faq.html#noconfig for more in
    fo.

Both servers are running a 64-bit version of windows.

Is there an iSCSI initiator installed on this server?

I've installed the iSCSI initiator and how I'm getting this error:
Failed to validate credentials for "delphix_admin" on host "10.0.0.143" using proxy "10.0.0.180".

    Any ideas?

    Regards,

    Felipe,

Googling on keywords "windows failed to authenticate iscsi initiator" leads to some fairly detailed discussions and possible solutions such as this one involving Dell servers in particular and this one involving general Challenge-Handshake Authentication Protocol (CHAP) concepts.  Do you know if the newly-installed iSCSI initiator needs its own authentication registered through CHAP?

So sorry, we're getting way to the limits of my personal expertise on Windows, but please let us know if that helps?

    Thanks!

Thanks but the error is on the Delphix side, it is shown when I try to add the windows environment as source.

Is it possibly an Active Directory problem?  What is the IP address for the Delphix Engine?  Is it 10.0.0.143 or 10.0.0.180?  Is "delphix_admin" just the account within the Delphix Engine itself, or is it also the name of an OS account on the Windows servers?  Are you using LDAP/AD authentication within the Delphix Engine?

We're not using AD or LDAP authentication, we have 3 VM's the Delphix engine (.135), the SAP Source (.143), the SAP Target (.180) all in the same network.

Is the target (.180) a staging target, or a target for virtual databases?  If the former, does the Windows domain user on the source (.143) belong to the same domain, or in the same cross-trusted domain as the Windows domain user on the staging target (.180)?  The documentation online here might explain it more thoroughly?

Felipe, are you trying to add a source host environment using the connector? Or is the connector installed on a Target\Staging host and that's already registered in the Delphix Engine and you're now trying to add the source in the GUI?

Awesome, thanks for clearing that up. I see you're using the login "delphix_admin". Is that a domain login?

That is the username for that Machine, we're not using any domains or anything like that, we're using standalone VMs for now.

Ok. That OS user has to be a domain login and the source host must also also be in a domain. Here's a link for the requirements for a source host:
