  • 1.  Delphix for SAP HANA

    Hi Team,

We were exploring the use of delphix for one of our clients and it involves SAP HANA. There was a concern raised that with regards to the in-memory aspect of HANA.

Explaining the concern with an example: If the source HANA db is of 12 TBs, delphix can create multiple storage level virtual copies, however the test environments using these virtual copies would still need 12 TBs each of in-memory space for it to work.

Could you please help and share your thoughts on this concern ?
I have gone through ebook available (Packaged Apps- SAP ERP) but couldn't find any insights on this specific point.

    Thanks,

    Hi Rajat,
I had a brief conversation internally and the in-memory requirement is set by SAP. I was told you could reduce the RAM footprint by manually defining tables that would be loaded into the RAM, but that is not a Delphix setting. We'd be happy to have a conversation with you and your customer about this. If that is an option you'd like to pursue, please let me know. I'll send you an email and you'd just need to reply to it.

    Thank you,
    Michael
