  • 1.  Configure Delphix for On the Fly vDB Masking.

    Hi all.

    I want to setup the delphix engine to work for doing On-the-fly masking for some vDBs.

    Our current setup has two separated servers (one for virtualization and one for masking).

    I have tried the instructions on this link but they are for versions 5.x and not 6.x.

    Could you put me where I can find the correct instructions?

    I think you will find the following information in our Knowledge Base helpful: Masking Method: On-The-Fly and In-Place (KBA1774) and Best Practice: File Masking Job Configuration (KBA1821).

    But I am more interested in the setup/configuration for the servers to communicate each other (virtualization with masking)

    Hi Michael.

    I was trying with the wrong user and I was able to follow the documentation.

    I made the change but when I try to assign the masking job to the dsource there are no available jobs but I have created some for other tests.

    How the configuration can be tested?

    Hi Felipe,

    I will assist you with this question. 

    A Masked vDB is only masking the Provisioned vDB and hence will only work with In-Place (IP) masking jobs.
    If On-The-Fly (OTF) is needed, then the OTF job needs to be added as a Script. The challenge here is that the Masking Connectors need to be defined on the Source and a Target and the target is the database (vDB) just created. 

    If assistance is needed to create a dynamic script, please contact your Customer Success Manager to get input from the Technical Services.

    Hi Anders.

    The end goal for this test is enable the process documented on the page for provisioning masked vDBs. Right now I had followed the instructions there, but unfortunately I have not seen the result that the page shows which is create a masked vDB directly from the dSource without having the user to create the vDB from the unmasked dSource and then mask it in place.

    Could you guide me on how I could try this process or as you said on your previous post that is something I have to check with the Customer Success Manager?

    Masked Provisioning is only available on In-Place masking jobs (with Multi-Tenant turned on). This is documented here.
