Hi,

We are trying to provision a VDB with below source and target details:

Source:
OS: Solaris based on SPARC processor
Oracle: 10.2.0.4

Target: Solaris based on AMD processor
OS: 10.2.0.4

As the source and target have different processor family, we had to reinstall oracle and patch it up to bring upto source level. Still DE is unable to find a compatible oracle home on target server. Could you please confirm if different platform (CPU structure) is supported for source and target environment.

Hi, The scenario of having a source and target with different CPU architecture is only support for replatforming. Meaning for migration your database from bigendian to littelendian. You can have a continues refresh on this kind of architecture because of the CPU topology. You can compare it to dataguard I you have the same thing. Regards, Mouhssine

Hi, Just to be more detailed on my answer. You have to do a unix to Linux to get your dsource on Solaris with the amd Once done you can create your vdb on amd machine, but keep in mode that no sync will be issued from the soarc machine as now your source is now adm machine. Regards, Mouhssine
