  • 1.  Performance tuning for accelelating V2P on Oracle ASM

    Hi All,
(I'm writing this on behalf of partner)

We are following the instruction below to do V2P from VDB to Oracle ASM.
    https://docs.delphix.com/docs/data-backup-and-recovery-solutions/virtual-to-physical/v2p-with-an-ora...

we gave a first shot and it took us 9hours per TB to complete the V2P. I'm wondering if there are anyway that you can accelerate the time of provisioning.

Any comments or thought would be welcome.

    Regards,

The bulk of the work in V2P is the moving of data off the Delphix appliance and onto the ASM storage.

As such, the read IO performance of the Delphix backend storage; the network performance; and read/write performance of the ASM managed storage are all critical.

With so many potential bottlenecks, there is no generic way to respond to this. For the specific context the partner is attempting this in, moving the query to support.delphix.com is recommended.

Hi Soichiro, Just as add-on to Joey’s answer. V2P is just using rman to move database from delphix storage to an other one outside, taking into consideration all factors detailed by Joey. You can play with rman’s options to tune the workload or figure out many windows shoot with pause/unpause Regards, Mouhssine

Thanks Joey for your feedback. Right, the partner is aware of network and Storage IO may affect to the speed of provisioning. Ok, let me guide them to go support if they still seeing the issue at the customer.

Hi Mouhssine, Thanks for your comment on this, and yes that is exactly the option that the partner was thinking of.
