  • 1.  Delphix versions- untested

    Posted 04-30-2023 11:02:00 PM

    Hi Team Delphix,

Just to let you know that I have upgraded the Delphix version 6- to version-8 and found few bugs in it, subsequently with Delphix support advise I have upgraded it to version-10 (the latest version) and still the bugs are there in this version.

So could any one please advise which is the robust and tested version of Delphix which takes care of these bugs or did someone face this issue as well.

Apologies, this is something halting our prod release and Delphix roll out progress, here are the bugs which are not rectified but were not there in Version-6:

    1. Warning symbol for all the tables despite of successful masking &
    2. Tables in waiting list are not visible like they were before in Ver-6

Please see the below snaps for more details from Ver-10.

Kindly advise the best Delphix version to use or there is no resolution of this.

    Regards,
    Raman

    Hi Raman,

Nice to meet you and thank you for reaching out.  Can you click on the exclamation point and drill down into the warning?  This usually points to a successful job as you mentioned but possibly non-conforming data.  I'll check on the tables in waiting with my internal team.

    Hi Robert,

    Thanks for answering it!

However, we have removed the Version 10 from our Prod setup (due to security reasons) so unable to provide the details but as per my findings , if any of the table in the list has warnings due to non-conformant data then it will be shown in all the tables, irrespective of they are successfully masked without any warnings and I know that as I have tested them separately with same algorithm which I am using for them in a bunch.

Moreover, I am fetching them from our non-prod engine where I tested few weeks ago and here is the snap for your reference:

    Hi Raman,

We appreciate the screenshots, there may be some rows that had non-conforming data and others that conformed, hence the yellow exclamation icon.  Would you be willing to meet offline / via Teams, Zoom, Webex to debug together?  My email is below and feel free to reach out anytime to setup a time.

    Thanks,
    Robert

Thanks, Raman for the time last night.  Our Continuous Compliance Engineering Team is working on a fix for DLPX-84782 where warnings are being displayed for successfully masked tables.  The issue stems from if one throws a warning or error, they all will.  We will keep you updated on its ETA and when this issue will be resolved.  For now you can confidently run the latest version you upgraded to in production.

    Hi Robert,

    Good day to you!

Thanks for heads-up on new Delphix version and hope it covers all bugs of previous versions!

Keen to know if that has no identified bugs and pen tested before upgrading in our environment.

    Regards,
    Raman

Thanks Robert and I appreciate that reply!

However, still waiting for bugs to be fixed in Ver-10 and its pen test report as requested while raising the support case, which is closed already saying we are not sure how much time it gonna take to complete by the third party.

    Regards,
    Raman

    Hi Robert/Team Delphix,

While we are waiting for Ver-10 bugs to be fixed as highlighted above and in support case, just have one suggestion for a button/option inside inventory window where we can see what all masked fields are selected on a table. Can we include an option to deselect all masked fields on a table at one go instead editing one by one for each field.

I understand that this could be one off requirement after configuring algorithms but sometimes when we are running masking job on bunch of tables and we just want to remove one table from that list of masking ( could be done by deleting that table from inventory but again changing the ruleset for that is bit cumbersome) and just want to sit that table in the list without getting masked, then this feature will be quite handy.

Not sure if I am making any sense but happy to discuss in detail, if required. Below is the snapshot where this feature is required to remove all masked fields for a table:

    Raman
