Just a note that you
can use synthetic data with Delphix Virtual Databases, in the same way that you can inject synthetic data into physical databases. VDBs are just like physical databases, with additional advanced features (rewind, refresh, share, bookmark, etc). If you have generated synthetic data that is required to successfully run your test suite, you can certainly push that data into a Delphix VDB.
Furthermore, once you've done that once, you can create additional VDBs from that one for rapid distribution to multiple teams. You can combine this with Delphix Masking and other transformations (compression, encryption, ETL, RDBMS upgrade, etc).

Hi Zackary,
Test data management is our strength where we are able to provide copies of the production data for testing. However, the platform does not assist with test data/synthetic data generation as we rely on the data ingested from a source system.
I completely agree with your assessment of what is needed in the modeling world and I've passed your feedback to our product team. Hopefully, we can have this sometime in the future.

Synthetic Data & Delphix
Question - Is there a way to generate synthetic data within Delphix that goes beyond virtualizing already existing data sets?
Wikipedia Definition of Synthetic Data: "any production data applicable to a given situation that are not obtained by direct measurement"
I am posting to gain clarity regarding Delphix and 'Synthetic Data'. From reviewing the product offering it appears that virtualization of masked production data would be the Delphix approach to providing developers with test data. This does not necessarily solve for generating new data for training and modeling purposes.
